Itinerary in detail:
Day 1: Kunming (1896 m) (D)
Arriving in Hong Kong in the morning and fly to Kunming where we arrive in the afternoon. Capital of Yunnan, Kunming is the gateway to China to Southeast Asia: The trade to Burma (the road of Tea), Thailand and Vietnam is flourishing. The climate is very mild throughout the year is conducive to all kinds of flowers. Night train sleeper to Dali (7 pm).
Day 2: Dali (1900 m) (B, L, D)
Arrival in Dali, transfer to hotel for breakfast. We are in the stronghold of the Bai minority, specializing in batik handcrarf painting). The women still wear the traditional clothing and headdress. Dali is situated on the shores of Lake Erhai, one of the largest lakes in China. Three magnificent pagodas, we visit, participate in its class. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3: Dali - Lijiang (2400 m) (B, L, D)
A 160 km north of Dali, Lijiang is the capital of the Naxi minority, related to the Tibetan people. The city lies at the foot of Mount Jade Dragon (Yulong Xue Shan), whose altitude reaches 5596 meters. Shining in its adornment of ice, it is the object of veneration of the Naxi. The afternoon is spent visiting the Old Town of Lijiang (World Heritage Site by UNESCO), one of the most beautiful cities in China. The wooden houses lining the cobbled streets, small bridges over a maze of channels in which to get lost. Traders and artisans in tiny shops are busy at the sight of passersby. The park of the Black Dragon Pool and its many pavilions us into ancient China. We are witnessing the evening at a concert of traditional Naxi music. Overnight hotel.

Day 4: Lijiang (B, L)
In the morning, transfer (40 km) to get close to a Tibetan temple, secluded in lush greenery. Here are grown very old camellias (Camellia to the ten thousand flowers) and superb Chinese bonsai one meter in height. Hiking in the countryside around the villages. A Baisha, meeting with the famous Dr. Ho and his son, known worldwide as specialists in herbal medicine. Visit the beautiful village of Shuhe. Overnight in Lijiang. Overnight hotel.
Day 5: Tiger Leaping Gorge (B, L, D)
We go round the mountains to join the course of the famous Yangtze River. Beginning of the hike overlooking the gorge. The river roars basically dominated by the snowy peaks of Jade Dragon Mountain. Magnificent trekking. A cozy inn welcomes us for a night in the middle of the trail. Night in hostel.
5-6 hours of walking.
Day 6: Tiger Leaping Gorge - Haba Mountain (2600 m) (B, L, D)
Following the hike. We reach the road that runs through the gorge. By bus, we take the altitude to reach the village of Naxi Haba. Night in hostel.
4 hour walk, 2 pm bus.
Day 7 Haba - terraces Baishuitai - Zhongdian (3300m) (B, L, D)
Drive to the Tibetan plateau. Stop Baishutai terraces. These remarkable concretions are discovered on foot. Succession of limestone basins where water flows crystal: a true geological curiosity. We continue our journey, over a pass at 3700 m altitude. The Tibetan plateau, here presents a very green landscape with forests of towering trees that follow green pastures. Arrive in Zhongdian, a small town in far west Tibet beautifully restored. Arrive late afternoon. Overnight hotel.

Day 8: Zhongdian (3344 m) (B, L, D)
Zhongdian leaving on foot, we go into the mountains to join a small monastery very withdrawn. Herds of yaks. Back to Zhongdian in the afternoon to explore this delightful city. Overnight hotel.
4-5 hours of walking.
Day 9: Zhongdian (B, L, D)
After a short transfer to the village of Ishi, we climb to the alpine plateau (4000 m) at the foot of Mount Qianhu, also called the Thousand Lakes Plateau. On the descent, stop to drink tea in a large house Khamba. Overnight at hotel.
1 hour drive and 5-6 hours of walking.
Day 10 / Zhongdian - Tongtöling - Dequen (3480 m) (B, L, D)
We penetrate further into the Tibetan plateau. Our goal: imposing monastic city of Gelukpa Tongtöling (100 km from Zhongdian). The landscape, very mineral, is in complete contrast with that of previous days. After the visit, beautiful to Dequen road (80 km). We cross the Yak La (4230 m) which separates the basins of the Mekong and Yangtze. A few kilometers before Dequen, Mount Kawa Karpo (6740 m), highest point of Yunnan, is revealed in all its glory. Overnight hotel.
5-6 pm bus. 1 hour walk.
Day 11 Dequen - Kawa Karpo (B, L, D)
Day hike in the beautiful region of Dequen populated rongpas peasants who grow barley in the month of June. Beautiful views of the Kawa Karpo. Overnight hotel.
5-6 hours of walking.
Day 12 Dequen - Zhongdian (B, L, D)
Return by bus to Zhongdian. Before arriving, we visit the largest monastery in Yunnan, Sumtseling, which would house eight hundred monks, according to official sources. Its architecture is reminiscent of the Potala in Lhasa. Overnight hotel.
2 hours of walking.
Day 13 Zhongdian -Flight Kunming (B, L)
This is an airplane that we cover the 200 kilometers from Lijiang and the 680 kilometers from Kunming in total. Overnight hotel.
Day 14 Kunming - Hong Kong (B)
Free day. Late afternoon, transfer to the airport and fly to Hong Kong. In the evening, transfer to airport for flight to France.

Yunnan is one of the most attractive provinces of China. The rainforest covers in the south to Vietnam. Located between 1800 and 2500 meters, the center and north offer a pleasant climate all year round. Finally, the Tibetan plateau at 4000 meters above sea level, occupies the entire west. Snow six months a year, it is only accessible during the summer. More than half the population consists of Yunnan ethnic minorities, many of which have retained their ancestral customs. Any occasion is good to wear the best clothes: Bai, Naxi, Mosuo people, compete so gaudy outfits.
